KeymasterHi everyone,
I bought one of these just before christmas as we needed the extra space of a washer/dryer. It broke over the christmas period giving an error code of F10. I managed to get through to the service centre when they answered the phones on the 28th Dec, and an engineer was booked for 12th Jan, though came early on the 6th. He didn’t really find anything wrong with it and reset the modules and it worked again.
It broke again a week later with the same fault, and another engineer came on the 19th Jan. He said it had been assembled incorrectly and we needed a new machine. He again reset it so that it would work for another few washes (in his words) and ordered a replacement for us.
It did work, for a few more washes before the same fault returned. I chased them up on the 21st Jan and was told I would have a delivery date by the following Monday. I again chased them on the 26th and again on the 29th when I was told that they didn’t process the request for a replacement until I chased them up on the 21st, but I should be contacted with a date on Mon or Tue of this week. It is now Wedensday and still nothing.
What more can I do to get a replacement washer? My wife is at home with 2 little ones and is pregnant, yet is having to drive 30 miles every day to do the washing at her Mam’s house!!
Any advice on what to do or who to contact next would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Dave

The retailer Dave.
Your contract is with them and not the manufacturer, they have the responsibilty to ensure you recieve good service/repairs/exchanges should these be required.
You have not recieved any of these things, let them deal with it on your behalf.
Dave.

I have spoken to the retailer once previously, and they did chase them up for me at the time and got an answer from them, but I think I will try them again.
Thanks for the advice.

Just spoke to the retailer, and apparantly I will be contacted in the next 1 to 2 days with an exchange delivery date. I’ll belive it when I see it!!
I suppose I could always take the broken machine to the front of their store with all my dirty washing and see if they move a bit quicker then!!

Don’t forget, even though the retailer is responsible, this isn’t their fault 😉
Give them the benefit of the doubt and see what happens by the weekend 😀

Yeah I realise it isn’t their fault, its just annoying when you keep getting told that you will have a date in a couple of days, that passes and nothing happens. Call again, same response.
It has taken longer to try and get this replaced, than it did to get the new one, and that was in the run up to christmas.
In total, we have now owned the washer for approx six and a half weeks, yet it has only worked for just over two weeks!!

KeymasterIt also doesn’t inspire any confidence in taking out the extended 5 year cover that they like to push. And the Hotpoint website talks about how good their after care service is!!

Dave, I am a retailer myself and an appointed Hotpoint centre to boot (for my sins ;)), believe me, I have every sympathy, you are not alone !!

I recently purchased the WD860 model (which I think is exactly the same machine – different colour). In the first 2 weeks had to call out engineer twice! On the 2nd ocasion told them to give me refund under the hotpoint 90 day guarantee – why don’t you try this?
Despite the machine I have to say that both the retailer and hotpoints customer service has been very good – maybe I was just lucky?
