    Hi Guys.
Called out to this machine that wouldn’t unlock at the end of the programme and the “lock” light remains illuminated.
It’s fitted with a Metalflex ZV-446 and I replaced it with a Rold DK01 but still get the same problem.
Even after isolating from the mains for a long period when the power is restored the “lock” light is still illuminated and the door won’t open.
    Very strange……any ideas?
    Cheers.

well if its not the instant lock then removing the mains has to open the lock

one thing that can stop it opening is if the lock is under tention so the lock cant withdraw

try locking it then pull plug. then after leaving long enough push door handle in and see if it releases

    Hi Dave,
I’ve tried removing the interlock from the machine and whilst still electrically connected sliding the latch across to simulate the door being closed
Then start a programme and it locks but when switched off on the machine it still doesn’t release and the lock light remains illuminated even after several minutes.
I seem to remember that some Hoover/Candy washing machines suffered a similar issue which was caused by low insulation on the motor which kept the interlock energised.

but that would not answer the fact that with the mains off it should release

think the door also stays locked if it thinks there is water in the machine or things are too hot

    Dave

just checked spec and showing up as solenoid lock with manual release and that wont release with time as it needs to be unlocked by timer

    long shot

check dryer element and wash element for leakage

As Dave said it sound like a mechanical fault.

The Rold DK001 won’t work as it’s an instant lock and the software in the module will not be able to control it

For the ‘door closed’ light to function correctly (where fitted) you need ‘C00306612 or C00307442 which are both PTC locks with door closed sensing.

If you fit an older non-sensing PTC lock the door closed light (where fitted) will always stay on as there is no sensing switch present.

Sounds like the Whirlpool trade site is more accurate than their retail sites.

On the Hpt retail site. (and aswo)
    I tried this one WDAL8640PUK 859990785440 80785440196

    3 x locks C00306612(PTC Hybrid), C00285597(Instant/Pulse), C00294848(Insant pulse+sens)
    2 x Modules C00306159 and C00296191
    4 x Software

Likely to be a serial number change but not specified on any retail or 3rd party trade system.

Very easy to get it wrong

    Thanks Murv.
    Yes very confusing.
    Product code 807072366 s/n 603072366
The interlock that is fitted is the Metalflex ZV-46 C00306612. Which according to Connect is not listed for that machine
When I fitted a Rold DK01 (C00285597)or a Bitron DLS2 (C00294848 )there’d would be a loud buzz when the solenoid was energised but they would both still not unlock on completing the programme.

The buzz which faids away quickly is a sure sign of a permanent feed to an ‘instant/pulse lock’. These locks are designed to lock & unlock with a short pulse from the control module.

If the buzz occurs on power up (before pressing the start button) then the module lock circuit is duff.

Otherwise a replacement PTC type lock should sort it.

Would be useful if wholesale lookups included serial number changes where required.

I guess this level of detail is not provided in their data dumps from the manufacturer
