    Hello all,

I have a Hotpoint WDD960G washer/dryer. The machine is functioning fine apart from the dryer which isn’t generating any heat.

I’ve taken the top off and removed the heating element to test it with a multimeter. When I place the probes on either end of the element itself, I’m getting a reading, but strangely when I put the probes on the element’s electrical connectors, there is no reading (it gives a reading of 1).

There’s a picture of the element attached.

I’ve also tested the temperature sensor but don’t get any reading from that either, (picture also attached).

Any ideas as to what the fault might be?

    Many thanks,

    Ian.

First make sure the machine is unplugged .. what reading did you get from the element ?

    Thanks for your reply.

Placing the probes on the element itself produced a really low reading, it was only 3 ohms.

Element should be around 43ohms, the thermistor may ‘appear’ to be OC, just depends how you are testing it but that element is shot, a very common failure.
