ParticipantHotpoint WDL540G washer drier. Serial no:- 1001401028.
Fitted with later Bitron module.Set the program, press start, door locks and machine runs. Fills and turns on the wash for about 3 minutes. Then all the lights flash along the bottom of the control panel, the machine stops and the door unlocks. Restart the machine and it’s dead; just locks the door and the module clicks once. Set to spin or drain and the pump runs for 2 seconds then dead. Restart after it stops and the PCB clicks then dead. No power at the pump plug. No lights flashing, just the ones showing the program and the start button lit green.
Checked motor, heater, drier heater and complete machine for earth leaks – nothing above 30 meg. Checked thermistors – around 20Mohm cold. Fitted new door interlock and motor brushes even though they were only half worn. So I ordered a module from EMW and it’s the same fault.Baffled!! Any suggestions? I’ve already thought of a cliff or a skip; so any other ideas as I’m all out of them.
Thanks,
Steve.

Steve, try replacing the caps on the board.. but more importantly change the MKP caps at the boards input. It sounds like the board is losing power at source end.

But he has already changed the pcb to no effect George. 😉
I have seen reports of the dryer ntc causing weird faults on these even if it checks out. You can plug the dryer ntc connector into an old wash heater ntc to test.
Have you got the manuals for this machine Steve?

That’s interesting….. I checked the drier NTC with the meter, but the reading kept changing and I put it down to me being shaky with the test leads as the NTC is in a very difficult spot facing downwards. It was showing a 19meg reading and then down then up again.
No I haven’t got the manual for it, Jim, so if you have, a copy would be most welcome. 😉 I think you have my email address; if not PM me and I’ll send it.
Thanks again!
Steve.

I had an indesit version of this on Monday. Washing machine fine, dryer cutting out after 5 to 10 minutes.
I fitted a new dryer ntc (white end and a different more pointed probe). After fitting it the washing machine was doing similar things to yours. Plugged the original back in and the washing machine went back to normal. In the end I fitted an ntc from a hotpoint washer heater, touch wood all seems ok.
My points are:
Yes an ntc can cause wierd things to happen.
The newer style ntc probe may not suit your model.October 21, 2014 at 7:59 pm #420530aqualectric

Changed the drier thermistor and…….. IT WORKED!!
Thanks very much for all the help; this is the stuff you just can’t know and where some help is invaluable. The NTC was in fact o/c so the reading I got the other day must have been me just randomly touching the meter probes together.
Cheers,
Steve.
