    Hi, when I switch on my washing machine at the socket I get a short, loud buzzing/grating noise from the door interlock and the machine won’t operate. This happens irrespective of whether or not the power button on the machine is on or off. I see in the door interlock mechanism there is a small plastic wheel and I think that this is not engaging properly, which is causing the noise. I tried replacing the door interlock but exactly the same thing happens with the new one. I’m thinking it may be an electrical fault somewhere but I don’t know where to check. Any help is much appreciated…

    Main motor carbon brushes would be a good place to start looking at.
