ParticipantGood afternoon,
My mum has the washing machine as per title. Recently when it gets to about 8 minutes to go on a big standard cotton cycle it suddenly jumps back to the start of the rinse cycle adding a further 40 mins to the cycle. I think this may be a faulty onboard computer. Does anyone have any ideas why this machine has suddenly started doing this?
Many thanks in advance.

Might I add I tried an empty 30 minute quick wash and it got to 1 minute then jumped to 15 minutes.

Other than a pcboard problem which I don`t think that it is because they do not normally fail that way. It is possible that there is a problem with the dryer element running to earth ( or wash element though more likely to be the dryer element ) even though on the face of it it has nothing to do with the wash/rinse/spin cycles. Turn power off to the machine, remove lid, and pull off both wires off the dryer`s element and make sure if not insulated already that they are – get some electrical tape- you do not want anything suddenly touching something they shouldn`t and going pop, that would be the last straw. Then retry on quick wash and see what happens.Just an idea you could try because elements trickling to earth do not necessarily trip electrics let alone blow fuses but definitely do mess temporarily with the electronics in the pcb.

The dryer ntc is a more common cause of weird faults on these TBH.

I posted on Saturday about my mums washing machine. After some fault finding I have discovered that the water element is away. (I have checked it with a multimeter) and ran a 90 wash stopped it and felt the temp of the water it was cold). My problem is I can’t seem to remove the elemen from the bottom of the drum. It comes out about 10mm and then it seems to catch on a 1mm high step all around the rubber seal. Is there a trick to getting this out as it feels absolutely solid.
Thanks
PS sorry for the new topic if this is an issue please merge.

No trick, just perseverance.
A thin, flat bladed screwdriver is the best thing to use, you need to gently prise the rubber grommet out as best you can. Sometimes completely removing the temp sensor will allow you to get a screwdriver into the rubber to help to get it moving.
