Hotpoint weight retaining springs

hi all has anyone seen these? i done a tub change today which was a bit of a nightmare due to these springs!
im guessing its to combat the screws coming loose but it was a hell of a job to remove.

Is there a special tool for it or do the manufacturers just fit new weights with tubs?

thanks dave ,yeah seems like the same things.i did manage to remove and refit but what a job!!
