ParticipantThis quality appliance had no panel lights showing regardless of what buttons you pushed or prodded, though the vertical options lights would give a brief flicker when the mains plug was put in the socket. 😯
Casting my beady eye over the thing with the lid off i spotted a badly melted mains filter plug.. ahah! prob solved i thought :tup:Didnt have the type of filter these machines use on me so just connected the mains lead directly to see what happened with the view to returning later to do it properly.
Same bloody result, tiny flicker of options lights when plugged in but then totally dead, i do have 238volts at the point the mains in enters the main module at bottom.Sent both panels to EMW who sent them back with no faults found 😯 i would have put money on it being the main board failing to power up but there you go 😯
Would not having the mains filter in situ make any odds? any ideas chaps? Thanks

Possibly electrical ‘noise’ stopping the board starting up. To run the machine direct with no suppression in line would be the same as no mains filter. It is common knowledge that some Smeg machines suffer from electrical interference, but I haven’t come across an Indesit product that did it….yet. Or, of course, it could simply be worn carbons or fascia PCB connections.

Check and make sure none of the buttons are stuck in on the facia pcb.

Reading between the lines I reckon Mick thought he was asking you to mail him your D.A.T. info, somehow he posted to the wrong thread. Shame his email address isn`t on his profile page.
Can one of the mod`s split this thread please.
