Hi, looking for some tech advice, it should be pointed out I am an electronics engineer although i have not worked in the brown goods & white goods sector for many years so fault experience is outdated.
Our Hotpoint WF745 Washing Machine is stopping mid cycle, we usually use Cycle F and notice it stopping with the timer showing around 33Mins left (when i notice it!) it then counts down while nothing happens( i.e. no drum turning, no pump or water fill) the timer gets to 1min and remains there and there are no error light sequences showing, the drum doesnt appear full of water but there is some because to get it to finish i then have to select manual empty (water can be heard emptying for about 20 secs) then i select manual rinse and spin then manual full spin, it then completes??
*I have now run it empty and can confirm about few inches (up to drum rim) of water is in the drum when it stops!

I have replaced the motor bushes (were worn) and re soldered the control psu (few dodgy looking soldering), also checked the operation of the heating element which seems fine.

Any advice much appreciated as i’m running out of hair to tear out!!

Have you tried cleaning the filter & checking for blockages in the pump ? if there’s water remaining in the tub it won’t complete the cycle, while you’ve got the machine open it would be a good idea to check out the pressure system as well.

Many Thanks Specialist01269 for reply, was just about to strip the pump out (there is no insp hatch on this one!), I have just ran it empty and when it stalled i selected manual empty but it only emptied half the water and had to select man empty again so reckon you have hit the nail on the head.
Strange thing is i ruled out the pump because it appears to be emptying fine with a good flow???
    will reply with results shortly

Thanks Again Specialist01269, were spot on, the black hose between the drum and pump has a filter in it and was full of paper and coins!
what a stupid place to put a discharge filter!!! what happened to having it behind the access door at the front for easy access!

No problems, glad you got it sorted. If they put things in easy places on appliances, then everyone would want to try repairing them Lol.
