ParticipantWf range all , modules blowing for no reason , or it looks as iff it has been leaked on .Customer has not reported a leak , but m/c has
failed or fault code has come up … TRANSIT bolts have peirced the
outer drum skin .. small leak , but it fucks the modules up big style
It did not show up on test bay , untill the 5th wash test . loopeyApril 6, 2006 at 9:55 pm #172355iadom

Not sure I understand or follow all of your post 😉
Is it one machine or all of them ? Is there no reason for the modules to fail or is there a leak?
Machine would appear to be out of guarantee but still well under Hotpoint’s five year parts guarantee.
When you mention ‘transit bolts’ and ‘test bay’ does that mean that you have uplifted this machine and damaged the drum in so doing? If it is over 12 months old then surely if the transit bolts had been left in it would have been noticed by now. ❓ These modules fail for fun without any help from ‘robust’ handling.
I have never, ever uplifted a machine in over 37 years and to be honest can see no good reason to do so, and I have heard all the arguments about ” I can run it on test” etc. The only proper place to test the appliance is in the exact environment that it is being used in.
What is the exact model number and fault code?

Suspect we’re talking about the WMA construct with the Indesit electronics, Jim. I wouldn’t worry too much – as we know, the boards fail on a whimsey, this may just be one more reason why……

Even from new iff the transit bolts have been screwed in to far , it leaks from the transit bolt holes , small leak, some times does not show up at
all. No we dont uplift m/c we buy a lot of raw hotpoints , to rework , recon
ect. Have seen this fault numeros times on the wf range ,fault codes to
many to mention. loopeyApril 7, 2006 at 8:28 am #172358Martin

Fascinating stuff loopey. 🙂
I haven’t so far come across a WF/WT with this fault but it makes sense that if the bolts puncture through the drum as you say, then water is going to spout out all over the module – Great stuff!

Very interesting, I did have one last week that had blown the module, 18 months old, referred her back to Hotpoint, will check out transit bolt holes in future.
Thanks loopey
