ParticipantI need the part number corresponding to Connect part No. 5031684823406, the seal used for the 30mm drum shaft models. This is a special order on Connect but I want to check if any other suppliers keep it in stock.

I usually order the complete kit, 1604600, not listed by Hotpoint as a separate part.

Yes, so do I but I’m trying to use up some bearings from obsolete bearing kits. Connect are expensive for the complete kit but everyone else I’ve tried is out of stock. 🙁

Clean up the old seal enough to read the numbers, then take it along to your local bearing stockist (see Yellow Pages) as they carry loads I expect? 💡

Have ordered a kit plus a couple of seals so at least I will have them eventually. Incidentally, I thought the kit from Connect was expensive at £20.18 until I looked at the Maddocks site where it’s listed at £29.27 😯

It is quite an unusual looking seal, probably specially made for Hotpoint.

These seals arrived today but now I don’t know if they have sent me the wrong thing or they are correct but are not a washing machine part at all. They are just rubber grommets such as you would find in a vacuum cleaner. The part is called “Seal for drum shaft 30mm” MER026307. 😕

Sounds like they sent you the old type “Skirt Seal” that used to meet up with the stainless steel washer on the cast bearing spider

I did try to get a suitable seal in Elgin today. I have another of these machines to do and I don’t have a spare 30mm shaft bearing kit. This time the front bearing came out intact so I think the centre section of the old seal assembly could be re-used. The outer part could well be an off-the-shelf seal as suggested by Martin. Unfortunately I’m told there is nowhere in Elgin so my nearest bearing stockist is Aberdeen, 60 miles away.
