ParticipantI have replaced the control board of my Hotpoint WF220P. Foolishly I removed the cables before taking note of where they went. I know what an idiot!
The only 2 cables that I have a query over are the ones supplying the heater element. There are 4 positions that they could go and I want to get it right before I power up.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forum Rules #8 applies. 🙁
If you are in the trade then I suggest you apply for trade access ASAP. 😉March 12, 2012 at 8:10 pm #370920ACLectrics

I am a domestic electrician, does this allow me trade access?
I can supply an email address if that helps?

I’m not after any wiring diagrams or schematics, I just need a picture showing the relavent positions.
The 2 connections that could take these 2 cables are either J3 position 5 & 6 or J4 position 4 & 5.
Many thanks again.

Many thanks for the information, but now the lights flash on the front of the unit. This was not happening before the pcb was replaced.
The on/off light flashes and there are 4 lights on constantly next to the powder draw.
Where can I find the information on error codes for this machine?

Those are not error codes, just a thought, was this a new or refurbished PCB?
What was the reason for changing it in the first place?

It was a new board, however I have just noticed that the old board does not have a connection J5, however the new board does.
Have I got the wrong board or has the board been updated?
Machine stopped working just before the end of it’s cycle. The old board was checked and a number of components are burnt / blackened.

Where did you buy it from, you are aware that these boards have to be programmed?

Purchased from Espares.
No I was not aware that the board needs to be programmed.
I assume I have to get someone in to carry this out?

eSpares, :rolls: you probably paid over the odds for it as well. 🙁
The nice man from Indesit will come along and programme it with his laptop, for a modest fee of around £105.00
You can do it yourself by purchasing a ‘one use only’ smart card for £20 and a card reader approx £100.

Board cost £118, with no mention of programming!
Sounds like it would be as cheap to buy a new machine?
Do all boards require programming.
Surely they could make them plug and play?
Thanks for your help in this.

I’ve just checked on eSpares web site and they do say this: –
eSpares wrote:Genuine Spare Part for select Arison, Hotpoint and Indesit washers. Please note that this component does not include the eeprom chip
That is totally misleading information because the module in question does have an eeprom chip embedded within the circuit board. However that ‘eeprom chip’ is blank and needs programming as my colleague has already said.
Curiously, if you bought the module direct from Hotpoint it would cost you just £100. Although they make no mention whatsoever about it requiring programming. And to purchase the spare on-line you have to agree to their ‘terms & conditions’. Refunds on returned spares such as this are subject to those strict terms and circuit boards are unlikely to be acceptable for return and credit.
It’s a bl&&dy minefield out there and no mistake….. :rolls:

Some boards are P&P, most require some programming which in the vast majority of cases involves using the buttons and control knobs on the machine to do this.
The Indesit Company are one of the few that have this daft system. 🙁
The irony is that had you sent for them in the first place they would have done the whole job for £105 inc parts. 😥
