    Hi All,

    Our Hotpoint wf250 appears to have had a crisis.

    Was working fine. No unusual behaviour. Then suddenly it fails to start.

    1. All appears normal until pressing start/cancel.
    2. Correct lights show for the program.
    3. relay clicks
    4. No fill or any other signs of progress
    5. Cancel programme and door unlocks as normal.
    6. Also noticed (when trying different programmes) a small dull thud (not loud) at point 3

    One thing to note is that our 15 month old was playing with the buttons with the door open just prior to this happening. I can’t work out how this had anything to do with it but just in case …

    Any suggestions?

    i think the first port of call would be the motor brushes to be fair

    what youl probably find is that the door locks and the ‘door locked’ light is not illuminating

    and that is normally points to the motor brushes

    Thanks! Just remains for me to get the motor out! I’ve removed the belt and power connector. As far as I can see there are only the two bolts at the back holding it in. However, once I;ve removed those then the motor still seems stubbornly fixed. Am I missing something or do I need to apply more welly?

    Welly it was! – brushes do look worn and one is a bit black so I’ll try and track down a new set.

    Next day service on the brushes & com stick so thanks for that. All fitted now going through a test wash. So far so good but it sounds like aomeone’s having a scalextric run in there. I guessing that this is the new brushes on the comutator (the noise changes every time the drum direction does). Have I misaligned something (not sure how I could have)? I’mn hoping that the brushes will bed in after the first couple of spins but if I’m about to destroy something it would be good to know first!

    Sounds good. So: thanks for everyones’ advice and the quick service from Shop@. It looks like this machine will do a few more washes at least!
