This Hotpoint (about 9 years old) suddenly became very loud yesterday during a spin cycle – it also walked half way across the kitchen. I found two large bolts and washers underneath (half covered in plastic like they were ripped out of something – the Indesit spares reference for them is: C00088408). I found them when I moved it back into its place.

I don’t want to waste anyone’s time if it’s not repairable? Can you advise please whether it’s worth calling an engineer or if my washer terminal and time to look for a replacement?

Out of interest what are the bolts for? Looking at a diagram I thought they came from the motor housing, but I can’t be sure??

    Thank you!!

They look like the motor or weight mounting bolts so, don’t use the machine until you see how bad it is and the only way you’re going to know that is by having a look to see what’s come adrift.

If they’ve been ripped out of the tank then I wouldn’t do it, too big a job and too much cost for an Indesit machine that age IMO.

Not sure where you got that part number from but that bolt is not used on a WF250, only on the Indesit made sealed drum machines. The weight bolts for your machine are C00118502. 😉

There are two large concrete weights on this machine, one on the top and one bolted to the lower front of the outer drum.

The drum front itself is around £50, quite a major strip down to replace however.

Thank you both so much for your replies. My Dad is convinced he could do the repair (he’s 72, but still likes to take things apart and fix them), though he lives in a different country, so it’s time for a new machine! Thanks again. 🙂
