ParticipantDear All,
I own Hotpoint WF540 washing Machine. Just recently some strange light have been coming on but it continued to work.
However today the machine today has completely failled to work. Initially no lights illuminated at all, now all the vertical lights( crease reduce, Rinse hold etc), the final spin & the power light briefly light up but the go off again & the machine fails to do anything further.
Just really wondering anyone can tell me what it is trying to tell me & if I need to get an engineer to it (i.e. is it something simple to fix that I can do myself, something an engineer could look at or just something where I should get rid of the machine & buy something else?
Thank you for reading this & for any advice you can give me.
Regards,
Paul

Indesit computer board will have died, of course. As usual……..
If you want to keep it, you’ve got a 5 year parts warranty, so pay the £90 and get all the bits for free.

Went to look at a WF machine the other day. Would come on( do the quick LED flash as usual) but when the start button was pressed it wouldn’t start. Turned out the “extra rinse” button was stuck in.

If any of the left hand vertical buttons are stuck this will happen.

Yes and they do tend to stick.

Thank you all for your ideas.
I think the sticky buttons must have been what had happened as I tried freeing these by running my figure up them & the machine seems to be working again for now at least….
However I think it is does surcome at some point to the usual indersit problem I’ll just ditch it & replace it with another manufacturers machine.

Paul

This fault is often caused by spilling something down the front of the machine, tea & coffee being the main culprits. If it happensa again then it is just a matter of removing the console panel and cleaning the rather flimsy push button assembly.
