Loads of coins jammed pump, cleared it out only to find that the pump is bu&&ered anyway. Customer then tells me that she heard a ‘pop’ and a puff of smoke came out from the back.

    Deep joy! :rolls:

So, I whipped out the module and there is a flash mark adjacent a relay on the corner of the board. No tracks are damaged, nothing untoward apparent on visual inspection either. There is a live feed to the pump but no neutral. The lights flash 1,3 & 4 (F11) pump fault in spite of plugging in a new pump, in circuit so to speak.

I would appreciate any tech info on this beast especially the module board info? Could just be a relay replacement jobbie though not sure if it has stuffed the eeprom TBH.

    Any help much appreciated. 😀

💡 Sorry to go a bit off topic but wouldn’t it be good if we had some sort of photographic library of as many boards as possible to which we could all refer for component ID’s and helping out with faults like this one.
I have no idea what your board looks like or which corner of it you’re looking at. Mind you, even if I did …
Got a feeling the pump is controlled by a triac or similar device and IIRC, they’re in the neutral side of the circuit.

Last one like this I had ended up as an EMW refurb.

Truth is, that’s the only possible get out I can go for. There’s no detectable surface damage as I can see, just slight flash marks on the side of the relay (and on the protective casing of course). All surface components, triacs and all seem perfect. Best I ship it off to EMW and chance my arm there then……….

You must have an account with them by now, surely? Just a phone call and the replacement is with you next day.

TBH unless its a weekend, if I send them a board it is usually back in 2 or 3 days at the most.
