Bearing kit – 1604473. This kit is the 35 mm type but im showing Bearing kit 1604600 the 30 mm kits, for model WF630G. So dose the WMA bearing kit fit the WF range. Im confused now 😕 Thank’s. Doug.

it does depend on which shaft was fitted in production, no way to tell till the pulley is off, best way is to fit 35mm shaft & bearings,

Good idea… There is a lot of play in the shaft so a spider it is then. 😀 think it going to need a new door seal too, phew 🙂

Surely doug will need a new rear half with large bearings to fit a 35mm shaft in place of a 30mm one.

I dont even try to knock out the bearings anymore just fit rear half tub. even with the hotpoint bearing tool kit it only works two out of three times as they are too large a bearing for too micky mouse a thread size to pull and the replacement tool parts too expensive when the threads wear as they will. Ive even bought a tap to recut the thread. with a magnifying glass you can see the distortion on the threads and yes I do keep them well oiled!

yeah good point iadom, thinkin about it ive only changed a 30mm shaft to 35 when fitting a new rear, and im with wilf that fitting a new rear is a far better way too, however when ive got stuck & run out of back halves then i have had to resort to driving out & back in new bearings, always been 35mm tho

I would agree with you most of the time. I always rebuild the drums at home in the garage and make a cursory attempt to remove the old bearings. Until recently I have almost always finished up using a new rear half even if the drum spider is OK but for some reason I have managed to remove the bearings as clean as a whistle on the last four drums I have changed.
Never use the tool to extract them, a large chisel and a heavy Birmingham screwdriver or Knockometer have sufficed. Only use the tool to refit.
Makes the job a decent earner if you can get them out.

The standard Hotpoint fitting/removal kit with the larger boss to fit inside the 35mm WMA bearings.

Well i will be using a large bar and lump hammer that i have always used to remove the bearings then i use the old hotpoint threaded bar tool to replace them. but not done a WF630 just the WMA series but “hey” are these not the same. Before I go…what do you use to remove the damper pins with cos i often end up having to buy new one’s as i bugger the plastic clip that stops them from comming loose again.
Going to dust off the calipers tomorow and hope i get a reading of 35mm. Even the door gaskit is twice that of the Wma series. 🙂

Mr Cynical here………. why bother? Do a huge amount of physical work – six months from now, the board will blow, then where are you? Are you going to swap the interlock and do the brushes and pump motor as well (give yourself a chance)? Pull the loom back through and tape it and hope………….
Sorry, you couldn’t give me one of these.
Chris.
