Sorry, hotpnt – just wanted to inject a note of realism into the thread. Still, if it’s a customer repair, they’ll be there in six months time….
“Ooh, we spent all that money on the bearings, can’t afford to throw that away……”
Maybe.

Well i did get it for peanuts and they seem to fetch a very good price when fixed/serviced so im not going to loose much sleep over the quality production. Like all things these days made to just last up to the day the cover runs out. If you ask me there must be a extra chip in the bord that times out after 3 years. 😀

dougdotcom wrote:Well i will be using a large bar and lump hammer that i have always used to remove the bearings then i use the old hotpoint threaded bar tool to replace them. but not done a WF630 just the WMA series but “hey” are these not the same. Before I go…what do you use to remove the damper pins with cos i often end up having to buy new one’s as i bugger the plastic clip that stops them from comming loose again.
Going to dust off the calipers tomorow and hope i get a reading of 35mm. Even the door gaskit is twice that of the Wma series. 🙂
You will not be able to use all of the WM bearing fitting tool for WMA bearings, you need a different, larger boss, part of kit No:5600172 ( not sure if it is still available), out of stock at Masteraprt and listed at £190.00 😯 , this is used together with the WM kit. The WM boss will not fit the larger bearing/drum assy, it will be way off centre.
PS. I didn’t pay that much for mine. 😉To remove dampers pins I grip the end with moles grips, use a terminal screwdriver to push the lug in then pull out the damper, seconds of a job. You should always replace the pegs with new ones and also the drum seal, even if you remove them carefully there is a very high risk of them coming adrift later.
Contrary to P45’s experience I have done possibly 50 or so WMA drums in the past 3 years. Only one suffered a motor board failure within 9 months but that machine was hammered. I have never had a single pump burn out on one of these and have not had to return to any of the other machines. I always give the motor a quick once over and if the machine is over 5 years old change the door lock as well.
The motor/board failure occurred just last week, they are now the proud owners of an ISE. 8)

Been shoping around trying to get the best deal for the bering kit for this Hotpoint WF630G as it’s the 30mm shaft,
The best iv’e found so far is 17 pound free postage no vat, this is to the public, Dont think trade would make any difference but then again i havent asked. Has anyone got a cheaper quote than this.? 😀June 24, 2007 at 3:51 pm #217704Penguin45
