ModeratorHeres a weird one for you,
Called out to this machine apparently showing F-07, supposedly a heater relay fault.
I did not move the machine, remove any panels, just switched it onto a cottons 40° wash. It worked perfectly for 10 minutes or so.
She then said that the last time she used it she had set it to a Fast Wash 30° and it flashed up F-07 as soon as it had filled.
I did the same and lo and behold it did exactly as she said. ❓
I set it to a synthetics wash, a silks/special treatments wash and back to a 30° Fast Wash.
I had the machine plugged into my meter and on all of the non fast wash programmes the heater came on and it progressed normally, but when I tried it on a couple more 30° Fast Washes it aborted to F-07 as soon as it had filled.
The old grey matter was really starting to ache at this point.
I then set it to a 60° Fast Wash and it worked perfectly, then reset it to a 30° Fast Wash and beggar me, it then worked fine on that as well.
All of this happened without me touching anything inside the machine or moving it in any way.
How the hell do you try and fix a fault like this. :con:
ATM she is going to give it a run on normal programmes to see how it goes.

Is it higher fill level on 30 deg washes?

It can only be a duff board then I guess? Mind you, Mike’s a bit of a whiz on heater relays so I hear. 🙂

Heater relays are certainly under a lot of stress these days and it wouldn’t be surprising for it to start by going intermittent. The ones used are rated at 10 amps so are right at the limit of their spec. if not a bit beyond!
Having said that I tried changing them for F08 fault on a AWD12 once and it didn’t make any difference even though the contacts were pretty blackened.

No mention of different water levels in manual and it did work on 30° Fast wash the last time I tried it.
I did try and change a couple of these relays for F08 faults a year or two back without any success, gave up wasting my time on them. :rolls:

i dont suppose it coulld be a water temp problem something like it is filling with warm water and causing it to get confused?

Naaa, it didn’t have time to register a temp, as soon as it filled it faulted to F-07 three times on Fast Wash 30°. I set it to a silks 30° and it worked fine on that.
Not had a call back yet so it appears to have worked for a few days at least. 😕

No call back yet after 11 days. 😕
The heater would have been near the top of my ‘usual suspects’ list, time will tell. 🙂
