Hotpoint WF860 Mains Filter.

Hi,
I have just been out to one of these hotpoints todays and it appears its been looked at before i got there. The fault was a straight short to earth. After inspection it appears the mains filter is the cause.
I’ve never had to swap one of these on the super silent with the brushless motor. I believe they are three phase. The mains filter has Live neutral and R on one side with the earths on another.

I cannot find a part no for the mains filter. How is the motor 3 phase when our wiring in the house isnt. What is R. I take it I cant just rewire this with a universal one. Also have noticed that the black wire going from R is loose at the bottom, this is why I presume somebody has had a look before me. The only place I can see that it could have come from, with the distance of wiring is a double connector on the motor which looks like an earth, but the motor already has an earth.

Like I say I havent done much on this new hotpoint other than door boots and tell them to call hotpint because of pcb failures. I hate them.
But any help would really be appreciated.

Hi

The filter only comes complete with mains lead which is part number C00119257. From my memory the earth wires on these machines are black.

Single phase is converted to three phase within the machine. I assume it allows them to manage faster spin speeds than with a single phase brushless motor.

Those filters go for fun. Nice easy peasy job. Not worth fitting a Beko equivalent which is still a fiver anyway and you have to find some way to attach it; just go for the nine quid gen part.
Check where the black wire comes from on the filter; if it connects to the earth on the filter (check ohms between R and the terminal where the earth wire connects to on new part) then presumably it did come from the motor earth, but it would be wise to get a diagram. PM the resident Hotpoint specialist? The one who’s proud of his county 😉 .

Cheers for all your help guys. I’ll get one ordered tommorrow. Would like to know for sure about the R connection mains filter black wire and where it should go to. Who’s the person in the know?
