ParticipantHello .
Hotpoint Washing machine which has 2 way inlet cold water valve and a dispenser with 3 compartments (wash , prewash and conditioner) .
Fault : conditioner not filled with water therefore not taken away
Facts : tested separately wash valve and prewash valve are working. Dispenser is clean , softener compartment clean. When softener should be taken away (means BOTH valves should be open) , water is coming in only on prewash compartment !!! . Topper (the plastic way with holes for spraying water replaced so it’s new !!)
If someone is thinking that there is not enough water pressure I can say that on wash or prewash water seem to fill pretty well, meaning not slower than it should.Question : I am wondering who can answer why water is not sprayed into the softener compartment

Hi
For one of the guys to be able to help can you post up the full model number please. It’s usually found on the inside of the door or where the door shuts against the cabinet.

This article explains how they work:

So if both valves open, it’s all clear and clean then pretty much the only explanation for it not taking conditioner (even though you don’t actually need it) is low water pressure.
It can’t be fault as, aside a faulty valve or a blockage, there’s not a single thing to go wrong.

Ok . I know how it should work .
Now , I am not sure that during the conditioner phase actually both valves are powered on by the main module (I didnt have time to check this) . All I know is that on wash phase correspondent valve works , and on prewash the other one either. If on the conditioner phase only the wash valve is powered on , means the main module is faulty …. Theoretically is possible.
And , if the low water pressure is the cause , how can you explain that on the conditioner phase water was spraying ONLY on the prewash compartment and not at all on the wash and conditioner’s …

Because it’ll just get the most pressure on the valve the opens first, the other will play second fiddle if there’s not enough pressure to give the force required.

By the way , to be accurate, the machine has a hot and cold water inlet , both supplied with cold water through a splitter.

No odds, the hot will probably only open on the first fill after pre wash on a hot cycle. Won’t affect that.
