Hotpoint WM12 won’t complete program

My parents WM12 stopped before the final spin in it’s program.
They thought it might be a belt problem, but eveything’s OK there. However the neutral wire in the plug was burnt and I think the fuse had blown. They sorted that, but on testing it stopped again at the same point.
I think it sounds like a PCB fault, but would that cause the burnt wire and blown fuse? Anyone have any ideas?
Update.
My father just phoned to say that the timer is clicking through the program , but the machine’s doing nothing after it has halted.

Check motor brushes.

Switch off and plug out first.

Hi Washman.
My father checked the brushes, they’re OK.
Drum was turning and spinning OK ’til it stuck at the same point in the program several times.

Not the valve helo_75, it fills and empties OK.

theres more than one valve you know

werent you aware theres a single valve just for the conditioner? or does the fact that it fills mean its ok?
