ParticipantI went out to one of these today as it was reported as dead.
First thing I went to was the interlock which didn’t work, so I began to smell a rat.
Investigated further and found the timer module blown at the front where the black wires which feed the water valves go.
I know that if water leaks through the door seal onto the interlock it will cause this to happen, but with this one, the door seal is fine and the interlock looks ok. I went round the machine with my mega, motor is ok, heater is ok and the water valves are ok too. There is do leakage from the tub front, infact the base of the cabinet looks like new with no leakage evidence at all The only thing I did find were the white laminated carbon brushes were worn out.
The customer wants it repairing so I have ordered a new timer module.
I’m thinking about throwing in a brand new interlock also for what they cost.
I’m a bit puzzled with this one.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks,

Hi,
I`ve had quite a few of these that the door lock goes and takes the track off the timer at the front.
I think if you look more closely the black wire from the front track goes to the interlock.
Replace them both and you should be fine.

Thanks for that bazza500.
Will throw in a n interlock at the same time. I wold charge him for it but I don’t want the repair to cost too much incase he just buys a new machine.

I never replace a timer for this fault, it is quite simple to solder a small link wire to the PCB and connect it directly to the corresponding black lead from the connector block. Never had one fail afterwards. Door interlock is a very common cause of this fault, motor/armature fault will also cause it.

Yeah, I thought about doing that, but it has blown a few parts of the track away, not just one.

I have had that problem a few times. Its a pity that manufactors dont put fuses on the boards.August 27, 2008 at 3:51 pm #260549maltheviking

Customers usually forget to tell you that they have had to give the door a thump to get the machine to start, hence dislodging the thermal device in the interlock, BANG :rolls:
