The extra wires a stator tap for the higher spins the old GEC motors ( the small kinda round things with the cartridge brushes) basically had two varients the large round taco type this was an analogue taco mainly used with lower spin upto 1000 rpm and the one with the smaller taco with the wee bar across it , this was a digital taco mainly in the higher spin machines. As far as I know the two types aren’t interchangeable as the signal type into the timer is different. The small taco 6 contact motor is interchangeable with the small taco 7 pin just make sure the taco wires are lined up and the rest fall in

I usually use a black marker and mark the side of the motor plug where the taco wires are before unplugging the old motor then its easy to plug in the right way up ! This also works on the FHP motor which replaces the GEC type in older machines make sure the taco’s in the right place and you can push the plug in without any wiring alterations
