fault no motor action, new type motor on board fhp, motor seems ok no raised bars good length brushes not grounded timer fuse has blown havent changed for new one yet as couldent see what rating it was and seems to be maybe soldered into holder

is this fuse for motor circuit only? if so has the fuse had a hot day or could it be the motor still drawing to much current?

Fuse rarely ( I’ve never seen one ) blows for no reason, if motor is sound then check out the wiring harness, where it is clamped to the cabinet edge near the motor, often chafes through there. Door locks often blow timers but usually the track to the first top edge connector, does sound like motor/wiring problems. I usually replace the fuse with a very thin link wire, that is what the original timers used to have in situ before date code 89. It is a motor protection fuse. QER & EMW fit replacement fuses & holders but I have not been able to source any round here, if you can please let me know. 🙂

thanks iadom, iv seen door lock blow tracks many times before its not that so i think i’ll look for wiring problems, i have seen this were the wires rub up against cabinet but normally blow the plug top fuse or trip, but maybe this time the timer fuse got there first?

I have seen many occasions when a motor or associated wiring has blown this fuse, mainly GDA motors, it often goes before the mains plug, but not always before the RCD kicks in ( or out ) 🙂

Had one last week caused by clothing jammed between drums.

sorry for the delay in answering this (been dozing) had exactly the same fault last week. customer said that the machine was making a hell of a noise, so she cranked timer round and switched off. i went and unwrapped a LARGE bra wire from round the heater, cured the noise fault, but no drum rotation, fuse on board had blown. took to qer they said that fuse might have blown due to cranking timer???. anyhow,,refitted board and everythig ok.
