ParticipantI have an hotpoint WM 64 which is not heating the water. The machine runs and finish’s all cycles fine. I have checked the element also i have checked the harness and thermistor and the economical button. I notice the water is slightly warmer when draining from the machine them the mains water entering.
I just replaced the bearings on this machine i also replace the element because it was shorting to earth.
I think the problem i have is with the main PCB or pressure switch.
Has anyone else had this problem?October 12, 2011 at 3:59 pm #361269Martin

Have you pressed the Economy Button by mistake?

No i Have not pressed Economy Button. The button is closed circuit when in the cancel position, and goes open circuit when Economy is selected.
I think the program is seeing all cycles as Economy cycles Would a PCB/program from a Hotpoint Aqurius 1100 WM63 fit a WM64October 13, 2011 at 8:30 am #361271DDSDDS

Am i right in thinking the two following statments correct
If the element was down it would just stay on the wash part of the program.
If the thermistor was down in will heat the water to hot or sense water has reached right temperature when it hasn’t
The machine is acting as the Economy button in pressed
The wires from the Economy button go to the PCB they are making a connection because i checked for continuity from the tracks on the PCB.
Will a PCB from a WM 63 fit a WM 64October 13, 2011 at 10:49 am #361274DDSDDS
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM64
i think the pcb will fit but there is a tag you will need to swap
if the element was not working at all the machine would time out and just continue through the cycle
as for the thermistor i have only ever seen one faulty and that had been hit by a coin or something and smashed so its unlikely have you tried it on a hot wash?October 13, 2011 at 12:16 pm #361275Martin

Yes, but I’m not sure how involved you intend going with this? The “PCB” forms part of the timer unit (C00201739) anyway so unsoldering the PCB from one to another would (I suspect) be a total waste of time. Better solution simply to get an exchange recon Timer/module unit from the likes of EMW?
It’s not a problem I’ve ever encountered before except that users often mistakenly activate the Economy button by mistake as a rule. (In is off, out is on by the way). 🙂

I checked the pressure switch their are five wires going to the switch one from the interlock one from the element and three white wires going to the PCB.
I notice two are closed circuit and go open circuit with pressure
two are open circuit and go close circuit with pressure
one white wire does not do anything could their be a problem with this switch?October 14, 2011 at 7:24 am #361277Martin
