I have a hotpoint wm64p washing machine and it has been working fine. Minor tweak such as inlet filters replaced have kept it in excellent condition. This week it has developed a problem where the door is shut and the machine set to on but it doesn’t start. A sharp bang around the door will usually set it working. I have looked and the door does seem out of alignment but I thought I would check if anyone has come across this. Does it need a new door, a new switch or something as simple as realigning the door and switch

You should invest in one of THESE as soon as possible.

The doorlock can also short across internally which will blow the tracks of the main control unit.

stop banging it and replace the door interlock right away repeated banging will damage the lock in such a way as to damage the timer and that is a costly spare compared to the price of a door interlock

do nto even use it till this is done
