hi following your advice about the dropped drum in a previous topic, yep mines dropped and also giving the blocked outlet pipe which I’ve checked and it isn’t.
so I’m in the middle of stripping down the front of my machine but what’s easiest to remove the seal from the drum or from the door? as I’m cutting my hands up like mad trying to undo the bolt spring on the top….

To access this machine properly you have to remove the whole of the front cabinet panel, you do not need to remove the grey rubber door seal from the drum, you do not need to remove the drum front to check the heater. You do however need the correct electrical test equipment.

If you are unsure then please take care, remove the mains plug at all times and if you get stuck try the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.

For safety and legal reasons we connot go into blow by blow details on repairs.

ok so I gather I just need to undo the clips around the drum ( I know you probably can’t answer that one)….Yep I’ve obviously removed the plug from the mains and all the water pipes so I could move the machine enough to work on it.
I’ll let you know how I get on once my 9mth old daughter goes back for a nap!
The machine was also noisy when on the spin cycle so is it worth replacing the bearings whilst I have it out or could this have been where the drum had dropped?

The drum bearings failure is the reason for your problem in the first place! 🙁

You will need to replace the Bearing Kit and Drum Support Spider (Part No 1611166) and almost certainly a new Heating Element will be required (Part No 1602026)….all of which is a major undertaking requiring specialist tools (removing/replacing the bearing set)..so best of luck!

yay I’ve done it….bought the new heating element, bearing kit etc… oh and new seal….after a good few wacks got the bearings out (boy they were worn away) and hey presto put it all back together with no spares left over!!!
And it’s lovely and quiet with no Error 15’s anymore! FAB hopefully I won’t be needing the site for a while but thanks for all the advice and I’ll recomend it to all my friends/family!!
    Thanks again!

Glad to hear you have sorted the problem, when you consider that those of us in the trade would expect to do this type of call in under 45 minutes together with another eight or ten calls of various kinds every day,I hope it gives you some idea of the skill, expertise and depth of knowledge required to make a success of running an ‘independant’ business in the whitegoods industry. 😉

    Jim.

PS. You did apply bearing loctite to the shaft and bearings, and also thread loctite to the pulley securing nut?
