ParticipantHi there guys, this machine is driving me nuts!! It washes ok on temps up to 40deg. but higher than this it just seems to tumble the clothes backwards and forwards for ever. Display gives prog. No. (say B), ‘washing’, door locked symbol, temp setting (60). But it doesn’t move on. No error code shows.
I have checked the heater for earth leakage, ok. The motor for noisy/low brushes, ok. Thermistor reads correct resistance. The pumps fine. All I can think of now is that the module has gone for a ball of chalk.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
Thanks Bob.October 10, 2009 at 2:25 pm #299241helo_75

Are you not getting any error codes ?
Try running a full Wet Test.
With machine switched OFF, press and hold buttons A&C, switch on and then press START.
It should run through a full test of all components, make sure you allow it to complete all of the test.

Thanks for speedy replies chaps,
Hot valve is fine, have checked actual operation by disconnecting and rigging up a seperate supply. No error codes at all, even after leaving it tumbling a long time. Will try wet test on Monday. Will also try changing from 40deg to 60deg to see if that helps.
I take it button ‘A’ is horizontal extreme left, and button ‘C’ is next but one?
I can’t seem to pull up instructions for this model on their website, does anyone know where I can find them?

Thanks Dave, nearest Hotpoint can get for a user manual on their site is for a dishwasher! Why am I not surprised?
Apparently there are error codes ranging from E10 to E31 according to Hotpoint, but there are none showing.
Jim sent me some tech spec for this model and the ‘B’ prog drags on for approx 190 minutes (3hrs+), just wondering if I’ve waited long enough before deciding that I’ve got a problem.
Thanks again, BobOctober 11, 2009 at 3:34 pm #299247electrofix

Oh but you will, this machine does indeed have error codes, they are even listed in the Known Error codes thread.
I did send Bob some up to date info late last night BTW but forgot to mention it here. 😳

Thanks for all the help on this one chaps, especially to Jim. It was in the tech. spec. that Jim sent to me that the answer lay. I was totally unaware of the three hour ten minutes time span of prog. ‘B’. I thought the machine had ‘stuck’ but it was just doing what it should. Thanks again, Bob
