ParticipantHi folks
Got a faulty power module on one of these (no motor) – checked motor, wiring etc.
Can only get new module as EMW don’t do these. It looks like a new module comes “not programed”. Anyone know whats involved in programing the module please.
Thanks
Mick

Wm75 that’s an old model, no programming on that, what’s the boards part number ?

DOH, that will teach me to post whilst watching the footy. 😀
Module is a C00201120, plug and play. Rarely if ever fail on their own, usually something else at fault.

I can see where the confusion arises, as Connect have them on their site as: “Module PCB Not Programmed (MERC00201120”
I see this for many of their modules from various manufacturers. A little accuracy would not go amiss.

Would be interested to know the outcome, not changed many power boards on these and every single one had been taken out by a fault elsewhere.

Thanks for the replies guys
Are you saying that the board is programmed n just posted wrong on Connect because Masterpart says same thing on their website.
Have changed module on a WM72 for same fault but was different part no but that was pre programmed and just a straight forward swap.
Checked the top brush on motor and half way worn but didn’t look at bottom brush as fhp motor fitted and continuity test seemed ok. Wiring looked ok as well and tugged at stuff looking for broken or loose connection. Didn’t take module out as customer didn’t seem interested in repair when I gave her an idea of cos and was going to buy new machinet. Phoned next day wanting me to go ahead with repair.
When first switched on the motor did a couple of revolutions then stopped but no arcing from motor. Seemed like a typical module fault where motor revolves a couple of revolutions n then stops but couldn’t get motor to turn again even after switching off and on.
Looks like from what you saying I might need to recheck every thing but would still like to know about module not programmed info just incase I need to order one up.
Thanks
Mick

Module is just a straight swap, no programming at all.

Some of them do have a small, fast blow fuse in the wiring harness, some on the boards but that doesn’t explain the fact that it ran for a few seconds with no sign of a pop. 😕

I have not checked but if this is the the ultima model with lcd and power board bolted to the inside at the front that the motor connects to and the control board behind the front facia then check the relay contacts on the power board by the motor harness connector, Iv seen a few blow there, seems to be a week point in the motor circuit.

Sorry guys meant to finalise this post – if you can call it that.
Went back after previous post – took motor off removed and checked bottom brushes and re mega motor ok – checked again for broken/shorting wires on harness all ok
Ordered modul and fitted (which did come pre-programmed – Qualtex very helpful n checked with Hotpoint themselves). Left machine working – all ok.
Solved methinks – wrong. Customer phoned back and machine got halfway through wash and started doing same thing (E30). Went back rechecked motor again – cut off and reconnected all the wires on terminal block incase one was broken but still held fast. Still no joy.
Only conclusion was some sort of intermittent fault with motor which was not showing up when motor stationary causing module fault?
Customer not willing to pay for motor as well so ended up buying new machine.
Never had an E30 fault on these that I couldn’t solve but I suppose there has to be a first time.
Thanks for all your help as always folks.

Iv had to rebuild a few motor harnesses on these due to the wires braking in the loom, can often be impossible to test with meter
