ParticipantHi Again — On every prog selected all that happens is the door lock light flashes + it won’t start. I’ve tried several interlocks and a top pcb. It needed a config doing which another eng in the firm did while I was out but still it does the same thing >> Any Ideas

the wiring between them, i would try a new pcb again i have never come across one that was anything other than door lock or pcb or more frequently both.
let me know how you get on though.
does the door pin work properly??September 22, 2006 at 3:20 pm #189311Bryan

Strange , I often find faulty motor blowing PCB on WMA`s .
Might be worth checking anyway.

just to clarify i was talking about the flashing light i have only seen door locks and boards fail that cause that.
but i have also seen scraped wires on the base blow the board although i have never come across a wma with a faulty motor yet although evryone else seems to have just lucky eh

The Bosch motor when brushes wear down take out the board about 70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time

I recon it’s the Bosch motor. I have often had Bosch machines where the brushes wear down below the tamping on the brush (allowing the pigtail to damage the commutator). I can’t honestly remember seeing any other make of motor where the brush does not captivate early enough to stop this kind of damage.
Thumbs down to Bosch in this area.

Hi Bob , I suppose we`re going a bit off topic here but I generally find that the commutator cleans up nicely with a comm stick on Bosch motors and with new brushes fitted there`s no problem. Occasionally might need a new end cap if the cut out has gone but hardly ever damage to PCB.
I seem to remember you not liking the use of comm sticks but it always seems to work for me on Bosch motors. I take your point that the motor/brush fault is causing the PCB damage so perhaps it`s just a case of poor quality motor and poor quality electronics.

Have to agree with all of the above, the Bosch motor is the one that causes most problems on WMA PCB’s without a doubt.

Participantive had the exact same prob with bad connections to front panel, taken plugs off and straightened connectors every thing ok after that
