Oh dear you have got a bad one there I’m afraid 🙁

Once the pulley has been removed the drum shaft should tap out of the bearing housing. The problem is that when the front bearing rusts up, seizes and locks onto the shaft, it is a smash and bash exercise to seperate.

A good overnight soaking with WD40, provided you stand the shaft upright to allow the fluid to penetrate down the shaft and into the bearings, may help? But damage to the shaft is inevitable and that as well as the bearing kit, will need replacing assuming you can seperate them?

    @martin

thanx m8 loads of wd40 leaving it for few hrs with hammering intervals did the job.

imagin 19 stones comming down on the shaft over six times that did it though but need a new spider got the bearings

the outer half how should it look with all bearings out

i done it but think i still need som bits out of the hole

When you have finally, if ever, removed the bits from the hole, your next task, should you accept it, is getting the old spider off the drum, good luck. 😉

    Last resort.
The last time I got one like that, I had to break / smash the rear tub so that I could access the screws for the spider. drill the spider screws out and prize the inner drum out.
fitting a new spider to the inner and a new rear tub plus tub seal made good.
I am sure all will agree no where near as bad as it seems.
make sure you have a gbig hammer and sharp drill.

You’ll be wasting your time and trouble putting new bearings and seals in without replacing the drum shaft!

It is the failure of the drum shaft that caused the bearings to go in the first place. 😉

As Martin says, new bearings are a waste of time without drum support.
the only parts that are good is the front drum and inner drum.
Penny pinching here will cost you dearly.
This can be a good job but if you dont get it right it will cost you.

    Harry,

The drum shaft and its 3 legged support (all one unit and known in the trade as a Drum Spigot = part no: 1604290) requires replacing. Your next problem is removing the 6 Torx bolts that hold the drum support onto the drum.

    But do it….you must 😉
