ParticipantI recently picked up three wma machines from a trader, these had come from a defunct electrical chain, they have all been stripped of wiring harness, motor, sump hose etc but the cases and top, facia etc are new as are the drums, but these are early machines with the problem bearing failures. I would like to use these to refurb some other machines I have. what part do I need to replace? just the bearings and seal or should I replace half the drum with the bearings fitted?
Thanks AllanMay 28, 2006 at 7:27 pm #177774iadom

If you can remove the old bearings easily then go for the bearing kit. A saving of around £20.00 . Having said that I almost always replace the rear half complete these days. It saves so much time wasting hassle and as long as someone hasn’t already opened the box 😉 , it should come with a new heater and two new suspension pegs, these pegs are a ‘must fit ‘when refitting drum assy into a machine.
I do find that every other one I get from Masterpart has the heater and pegs missing. 😥

the early tub had the breather hole in the middle i.e. between the bearings, definatley ditch those. we always fit new rear half and spider as it seems almost impossible to remove the bearings even with the proper tools

dont have a problem getting bearing ring out have a 97{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success rate so far
split a new bearing into components and rebuild into rear half using 5 or 6 balls and centre of race . place balls equally around and holding in place invert tub and belt 7 bells out of race till it comes out
if you clean around ring and oil it it normally slips out without too much trouble
