    Hi there,

My husband put a post on a few days ago regarding our Hotpoint that had died – the drum bearings have gone apparently and it will cost more to fix than the machine is worth. We have just received another Hotpoint from my father and we would be very appreciative if anyone could answer the following question:

It is a Hotpoint First edition WMA10 that was bought in 2006 and used for about 4 months. Since then it has been unused, and stored in my Father’s garage. We can’t see that there should be any problems with it, but as it has sat unused for so long, before we run it, will it require any oiling/lubrication of any parts?

Can I also take this opportunity to say that this is a fantastic website/forum and thank you for all advice past and future!

    Kind regards,

    Camilla

No real maintenance required, although I’d do a bit of backwards testing before use. Run spin to check motor and pump work; then a rinse to make sure there are no leaks and it drains properly.

As it has been stood for a long time you would be best advised to perform a SERVICE WASH before putting it to work.

That’s great, thanks so much for the info. We’ll sort those checks out tomorrow.

    All the best, Camilla.
