Hotpoint WMA10 won’t spin

Hi, Hope someone can point me in the right direction, the problem is the washer will not go into the spin mode,it will finish the wash cycle and then the drum turns slowly but will not go at full speed.Its the same if you put it straight onto fast spin the drum just rotates slowly.Is it likely to be the control board or is there something less complicated thats stopping it.Many thanks in anticipation.John

Does it spin if you try it without any clothes in it? An OOB ( out of balance) load will prevent the machine from spinning.

If it will not spin when empty it could be the pressure switch or the PCB.

Hi Jim,
No it does not spin full or empty, the wife had washed some bath mats and the next load a light shirt it would not spin. If its the pressure switch is it a case of blowing down the pipe and listening to it click?,regards John

the dreaded bath mats have probably left loads off fluff or rubber backing in the sump/pump

As hotpnt says gunged up sump the likely cause, this would prevent the pressure switch from operating correctly. Blowing up the pipe will not solve your problem 😉
