ParticipantWe have a hotpoint wma32 washing machine, the door locked light flashes at the start of a programme and nothing happens, it does not start.
Prior to this fault the machine did not finish its programme but sat there with the waste pump running, the machine was empty and the sender unit for the pressure switch was clean.
I think the symptoms point to the door lock switch, Any ideas would be great.

May be a silly question but is the door locking? If not then it could well be the lock and its a cheap option to try first. If that doesnt work, call somone in.

If it is not the door lock it will be a combination of a new door lock and control module……be warned if it is the door lock do not try a new control board with the old door lock……..

Kevanali,
You didn’t reply to eastlmark’s comment as to whether or not the door actually locks? 😕 If it does, then it is likely to be OK and not the fault in this case.
Door Interlocks suffer one of two specific faults: –
1) They simply do not lock.
2) The terminals within short out (crossed polarity) which usually results in it ‘blowing’ the Programme Control Board 🙁
Hotpoint engineers when faced with a blown Circuit Board almost always replace the Door Interlock as well, as a matter of course (a wise precaution 😉 )

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. Recently I have gone to 2 houses with this problem. Door won’t lock and the flashing light. On the 2 occasions a track was blown on the computer board. As there was nothing to lose i repaired the blown track and tried the machine. Both machines wouldn’t spin. Brushes had gone on both. Once the brushes were replaced the machines worked and still do perfectly. Arcing from worn brushes might cause this too.

Participantyup id have a look on the pcb 1st
the plug for the door lock is on the same plug as the motor .. its more than likely the motor thats done it
quite common, in fact
however, it could just be the spring broken at the back of the handle, but surely you’ve checked that?
