I have a Hotpoint wma34 washing machine. I don’t know how old it is as I inherited when I bought my house. It was always very noisy on the spin cycle and had a kink in the rubber around the drum. A small item of clothing must have got inside the machine and got caught in one of the plastic groves inside the drum. This has now fallen off. Will it be worth while to get it repaired or should I just buy a new machine?

It likely will be costly to sort these problems. The earlier WMA machines had inherent main drum bearing problems which Hotpoint replaced the complete drum assembly to cure. Yours can be bodged by fitting new bearings but not recommended at all as an effective repair.

So perhaps a new m/c in the Jan sales may be the best option!

…or hang on til February and we have the new ISE machine launch you will surely be tempted by?

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the Hotpoint WF540 yesterday. It seems like a good machine although without the timesaver feature of previous models. Do you know if the newer Hotpoint’s have the same bearing problems?

Excuese my ignorance but what is a ISE machine?

Hi Dermot – Have a look on the home page and you will see a brief intro to the ISE machine. Its a machine specified by members of this forum with a 5 year parts warranty and 1 year labour (extendable if you wish). Those of us that have signed up to sell this machine, in the main, have all been trained to repair it. Read on for more info ……

No but they do have others, they have Indesit type electronic controls.
Just have a quick look at this forum for Indesit, and you will soon see that bearings will be the least of your problems.
