    Hi,

My second hand but just 3 years old washing machine doesn’t work. It doesn’t matter, which programme I choose – [even spinning&rinse].

If I choose a washing programme: It starts working- pumps out the rest of water, starts fill it up with new one and stops and does nothing [no sounds is emitting]. Then I must cancel the programme and pump out water.

If I choose some spinning programme: just pumps out water and stops.

I think a problem is with the module or some parts, which gives a switching command [relay] to the motor, is at fault.

However, all parts look as new ones [motor doesn’t smell as burned].

Please, help me. I can change any part without assistance but I must know which one [and where I can buy it].

BTW, I have read something about warranty repairs for Hotpoint products till 5 years age, but I haven’t got any letter of guarantee. Can you tell me more?

    Thanks for your help.

Almost certainly a motor related problem. Check for wiring problems, condition of motor brushes – test meter is the weapon required. If these are ok, the problem will almost certainly be in the control board.

    Power off if investigating.

I removed the motor from washing machine and would like to check it out but there is a multiconnector. I recognized 2 pins which belongs directly to brushes. May I connect 220V on it to check if the motor runs? Will it work? I will be careful 😉

Do not, do not, do not apply live electric direct to the motor. All you need is a multi meter or an engineer.

Motor has three circuits – brushes(armature), field coil, tacho generator. If there is a seventh terminal, it is linked to the field coil. If you get three circuits, test the wiring loom.

Please ensure the power is off.

All hotpoint machines are covered for parts for five years, you have a date code on your machine which is part of the serial number on the door near the hinge, the first two numbers are the date code. Remember that if you make it obvious that you have been tampering with the machine your warranty will be invalidated. however, reading your first post again the warranty may only apply to the original owner.
There should be no need to remove the motor to check, refitting can be very difficult if you do not know what you are doing with the belt 😉

I have fixed it! 🙂 Just don’t know how, doesn’t matter. 😆 I think there was a bad brush contact or a bad terminal contact . BTW, I removed the motor and it was really pretty hard to fit the belt but I managed it. W. M. runs as a new one.

Thank you very much for your advices and please, excuse my English as I am not English.

A one minute, scar free job, if you know what you are doing. 😉

A strong possibilty that the fault will re occur if a loose wire or poor brush contact did cause the fault.

🙁 You are scaring me! However, now I am able to fit the belt in one minute because I know one trick.
