The drum on our Hotpoint WMA35 is having difficulty turning.

It feels and sounds like there is something in the workings jamming it. It will turn one way by hand and then get stiff until you turn it the other way.

The machine will spin the drum but when the motor stops the drum rapidly halts and doesn’t gradually slow down like it used to.

Any ideas how I might fix this? Is it worth taking it apart to see if there is something jamming it – and how?

    Thanks

    Andrew

Something under the drum perhaps? You’ve probably had the “drum-paddles-falling-off” problem by now?

To deliberately remove a paddle, count forward three holes along the top and insert a fine screw driver. Push down gently, whilst pulling the paddle towards you and it will slide off. This will reveal a nice large access hole and you may be able to retreive the missing item.

Bend the locking tab back up before refitting the paddle.
