    Hi

On the bankholiday weekend, my Hotpoint Aquarius WMA40 stopped spinning. It filled with water but didn’t go round, it seemed to drain okay.

The drum doesn’t rotate so duly opened up the annoyingly small silver hatch at the back to have a look at the brushs, but before I got that far the belt is off.

Have tried my best to stretch it back on but can’t a screwdriver or anything up there to help the belt back on.

    Any suggestions?

    Ta

Before you place the belt back onto the pully & motor, open the door of the washer to see if there is any up & down movement of the drum…

I should imagine this is the cause of the belt coming off and if this is the case, then you will need to have the bearings replaced in your machine.

Rats! I had a sinking feeling someone would say that. Off to the internet I go.

Thanks for the reply George 🙂

What are you off to the internet for?

A new machine- bearings is beyond my limited skills and my local repair shop said £90 to £120 to replace the bearings.

The machine came with the house so it’s got be at least 5 years old if not more. Reckon it’ll be cheaper to just get a new one in the long term.

Only if you are prepared to spend £450/£500 upwards. 😉

We could recycle the machine for you if you are not going to have it repaired and are not too far away from us.
