ParticipantHi, i am looking for some help with my washing machine please.
I have a Hotpoint WMA62 washing machine, and i am starting to have a problem with it.
When i put the machine on, I put the soap powder in the right hand side of the tray, and in the left i add some fabric conditioner liquid.
After the machine has stopped and i open the drawer the fabric conditioner is still there.
The machine doesnt seem to be taking it in. It seems to get watery, and also when i take out the drawer to clean out, there it bigger thicker bits of it. I have cleaned the drawer many times, and also the bit which it slides into, but i am still having this problem. How can this be fixed, to get it back to normal?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Are you cleaning the channel under the drawer, on the left hand side from the front, you may need to poke down the hole from the conditioner compartment to clear. Also avoid using thick conditioners, don’t overfill, and make sure you do not store your fabric conditioner in a very cold environment.
Try using tablets ( Ariel dispenses well) instead of powder to prevent it splashing over into the fabric conditioner and make sure the blue flap at the back of the right hand side of the drawer is raised out of the way.January 20, 2006 at 5:04 pm #161621Goatboy

With the age of the machine, it really shouldn’t have an electrical fault, but, you never know!
I reckon it’s probably the modern day unshuck fabric conditioner.
Put the machine on rinses, and when it’s filling on the final rinse (fabric conditioner rinse) open the drawer (this shudn’t get your carpet too wet) and see if the water is coming through OK.
If it is, I’d blame the conditioner being too thick! Try diluting it when you put it in at the start, and always shake it before use.

ParticipantHi thanks for the quick reply.
I have cleaned the channel many times, and have run it under the tap and the water seems to go in and out ok, so thats not blocked.
I dont think the conditioner is that thick, and its not usually that cold where its stored. Thanks again.

Hi GB. My machine is also a WMA62 and I have no problems, is your cold water pressure poor?
I wouldn’t let Aldi’s own brand detergents near my machine but use their ANCOsoft fabric conditioner without any problems, might be worth trying an alternative product.

ParticipantHi, the water pressure is good.
The machine has been working perfectly fine for a few years now without any problems. And this has just started to happen recently.
Are there any other bits that may be blocked or i should clean?
Im using Comfort fabric softner, which i thought should be ok.January 20, 2006 at 5:13 pm #161626Goatboy

See if the water is coming through. Though if it wasn’t the machine wouldn’t finish it’s cycle 😕
I’ve had the too thick fabric softener many times, it sets before the final rinse. Then the water runs off the top of it, or picks it up in one set lump, and runs under it!
Are you near the bottom of the bottle of fabric conditioner? Do you shake every time before use.
Besides that I’d sugguest professional help… Repairs@

When I used to use Comfort, I always watered it down. you could check the fill valve filters at the back of the machine, turn off the water and remove the hoses, the plastic mesh filters inside the valves should be clear, if you have had any dirty water through the mains it can clog the filter and reduce the water flow.

hello guys hows it hanging. i have a hotpoint aquarius WT740 and this is doing the same as the WMA62. the machine is brand new and isnt using the fabric softener. it cant be the softener to thick as i use the same softener that hotpoint recommend. the water pressure is at 7bar so fine there. i will be ringing customer support to get it sorted but wondered if anyone knows what could be doing this on a brand new machine. (me thinks solanoid stuck) machine is fine for everything else, washes absolutly brilliantly. thanks every one. glyn 😯

I’m gonna type it one more time!
If the water pressure is fine, then the softener is too thick and is setting before the final rinse! Always shake the bottle, and dilute it with some water if you have to.
And if you can’t figure out the problem, call in a professional!!!

Easy way to be sure is to NOT put any fabric conditioner in the compartment. Instead put a dry broken biscuit or similar in that compartment. Set it to “Rinse & Spin” then see what’s happened to the biscuit??
More tea vicar?

If the biscuit was dry would you tell the customer that her machine was ‘snackered’ 😆
