ParticipantHello,
I’ve had a call from home to say our WMA63 is leaking from the door but I stress I haven’t seen it myself yet. I’ve just had a look on the web site and it suggests that it could be a leak from the soap dispenser or the door seal. I’ll run a load of washing when I getc home and see if I can see where the leak is coming from. I have been told there is no obvious hole or tear in the door seal. f it is the door seal is broken is it relatively straightforward to buy one from here and replace it myself?
Thanks.

Door seal leaks a not common on this machine. Fold the seal back and visually check for any holes or spilts in the seal.
Leaks from the soap drawer that run round and off the bottom of the door are very common.
Turning the water pressure down and giving the drawer compartment a good clean usually does the trick.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I didn’t get notification of a reply. When I got home I found there was a white ring around the door (scale?) and I wiped that off. I don’t know whether that was stopping the door from making a proper seal?
I did run the machine and I saw a tiny dribble from under the soap tray, so it may be, as you suggest, that it was that rather than the door. The tray does get black in it from time to time. Is this some form of algae or contamination in our water? Do you think this could have blocked something causing it to overflow?
I can’t quite remember what I did now. I guess I must have removed teh tray and given it a good rinse and so far there haven’t been any problems since.
Thanks.

So you think the outlet was blocked causing the machne to overflow? Is that a common thing?
I remember many years ago washing machines had a flap on the front behind which was a waste filter. Do modern machines no longer have filters on the waste?

Most machines have filters or coin traps of some kind, either in the sump hose or as part of the drain pump body, the latter type is the one behind the flap. 😉
On this machine the sump hose/filter and the water level pressure chamber are in one unit. It is possible for the sump to get blocked in such a way as to prevent the machine from draining correctly but allow the pressure switch to think it has drained out. This lets the machine go into spin whilst there is still water in the drum, throwing it out of the drawer.
If your drawer is all gunged up with black ooze the you need to give it a good clean out with a suitable brush or similar.
If your water pressure is very high then use the hot & cold fill taps to adjust the flow down a little.
