ParticipantHi, I’ve just replaced the bearings in my WMA63 and after rebuilding it doesnt work 😡
Main symptom seems to be that the motor wont run. On a simple rinse/spin cycle, the machine fills with water, relays click, nothing much else happens until On appears on the display, the water is pumped out and it stops. Motor does not run at all.
Can some kind soul suggest some troubleshooting steps please?
Cheers
Tim

Hmmm. So much for the polarising keys on these Hotpoint plugs. It seems you can quite happily plug in the motor plug upside down.
Now it is the right way up, the motor runs, but, in a Rinse & Spin cycle, it fills, the drum rotates briefly anti clockwise, fills some more, more anti clockwise, then it goes into “fault mode” (I assume) – the display just shows On, the drum empties and it stops.
Anyone any ideas? Should the drum rotate both ways in this program? Is the problem the tacho or the lower control board?
Cheers

yes
try a wash programme
if it only rotates 1 way take out the board and check it for print damage

Fixed. Resistor blown on motor control board, in the tacho circuit. Bit of a nervous moment trying to decide what value the burnt resistor was, but 10K seems OK, and I’ve just sat down and watched a Rinse & Spin @ 1600 from beginning to end and it seems fine.
Amazing difference now the new bearings are in – its gone from jumbo jet taking off, to whisper quiet 😀

ParticipantSorry to jump in late I have the same issue as twj42 and have ordered a new control board which is located behind the display panel. Is there also a lower board which could be the issue.

ParticipantHi Dave, Its a Hotpoint Ultima Extra WMA 63 I brought it with me from the UK when I emigrated. I have the same issue as user twj42 (above) and I am wondering if there is another circuit board (apart from the one behind the control panel) which controls the motor.
Thanks for the help
