    If the shaft is in good condition then its a push fit back into the new bearings. If the drum shaft shows signs of damage then that will also need replacing.

    Thanks for your help guys.
    I dismantled the drum at the weekend. It was very difficult to get the shaft out of the bearing. When I did get it out I found that the inner bearing has broken down, the shaft has corrosion on it and the spider is broken. So I have ordered a new drum and it should be delivered in a few days.
    Again thanks for the help and I hoping I can get it back together again without any major problems.
