    Hi,
The washing machine recently stopped working.

I found that the power module had blown (in spectacular fashion), and after looking around your most excellent forum I traced the fault to a bare wire on the motor harness that had shorted onto the case (melted copper strands, blackened sheath). That old chaffing against the concrete block problem strikes again……

I duly repaired the harness and replaced the power module. However, the machine did all the usual stuff (filled, heated, pumped out) except rotate the drum. I checked the motor brushes, field winding and armature, and found these to be OK. I also continuity checked the harnesses and these were OK.

I then got out the PCB that lives in the black plastic box in the lower RH side of the case. This too has suffered some damage in the form of blown tracks and overheated components. My problem is that I can’t find this item in any of the internet spares places – they only seem to have the ‘power’ and ‘control module’ PCBs. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement?

(This is a most excellent forum – the things I didn’t know I didn’t know about washing machines!)

    Many thanks

That is the ‘Chopper board’ used to achieve the 1600 spin speed via DC supply.

Part number C00201712, list price around £87.00 ex vat. An e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk would get things moving.

As a matter of interest, how old is this machine?

    Jim.

    Thanks for that information.

My guess as to age is 5 and a half years. The sn is 07166722 if that tells you anything.

Sadly over five year parts guarantee I’m afraid. July 2002 production date. 😥

    Jim.
