I have previously posted on this forum & was advised to email for further expert advice but then got told they could not help via email and I should repost so hope someone can help. I have a Hotpoint WMD940 washing machine which is getting stuck with approx 20 mins to go on a normal cotton 40 degrees wash cycle i.e. between rinse and spin cycles when it then repeats the rinse a few times with timer stuck before finally giving up and flashing up error message f10. If I then turn the machine off and set to just spin this works OK but it will not complete a full wash, rinse, spin cycle on its own. It was suggested previously that the cause may be a faulty pressure switch – can you confirm if you would agree with this and if so if there is any way of checking it or if I just have to buy a new one and try it? Many thanks in advance, Dave.

F10 is a faulty Pressure Switch so I suggest you try to see if that solves your problem by buying and fitting one. Error codes are NOT an exacting science and these Hotpoint/Indesit machines are notorious for their spurious error codes. And with F10 any earth leak or corrupted EEPROM can also spit out the same code. Go with the Pressure Switch and crossed fingers approach first. If that fails it’s off with you to B & Q to buy the biggest sledge hammer they stock! 💡

POWER OFF FIRST DON’T FORGET. :zap:

Thanks Martin – just wondered if there is any way of checking if the pressure switch is faulty before I order and wait for one?

If only life were that simple. 😉
