Hotpoint WMD962Squeaking & Bacon Smell

I have a HotPoint WMD962 Ultima washing machine
For the last couple of days it has been squeaking and during a spin-cycle it produces what I would describe as a Frazzles bacon-flavoured crisps smell!!
No error messages or problems with the wash cycle – and no packets of bacon crisps nearby either!
Any ideas

Ah yes “bacon flavoured crisps” eh? Then that’ll mean that the inner stainless drum has caught the grey rubber door seal for whatever reason. It could mean the drum has become loose and is snagging the rubber OR the machine wash overloaded and clothes trapped OR the dreaded wired bra caught between the two surfaces. 😕
