    I have a Hotpoint WMF 560.

When I try to start a wash, there are six loud “clacks”, then the message “door” appears on the LED panel accompanied by 3 beeps and 3 flashes of the red led next to the key symbol.

The door appears to be properly closed.

Last time I did a wash, this happened several times but eventually I got it to start OK and it did the full wash without any problems.

But for this wash, after several attempts I still just get the above error each time, so I can’t get it to start at all.

The door mechanism seems to be OK. Nothing visibly broken and the door shuts firmly.

Any idea what might be wrong?

Loose or broken motor wiring connections first thing to check.

Thanks, but why would it give a door error if the problem was with the motor connection? Surely it would give an error code that indicated the motor at fault, not the door?

It is an Indesit machine, nothing is logical ( or reliable) I will repeat, the first thing to check is the motor wiring plug connections.
