Hotpoint WMF945P dead

No power, no lights, nothing. Checked obvious: plug, fuse, mains socket. All fine. It completed the last wash normally.

Mains filter looks OK from the outside. Don’t have my multi-meter with me. Is it OK to bypass it for diagnosis?

Removed control panel circuit board. No signs of burning or damage. On/off switch makes positive contact.

Removed main PCB. No signs of burning, but a copper coil on the board, marked “EE16V003 A F AM 4211” has some congealed brown ‘goo’ on and around it. Pic attached. Can’t have leaked, unless it leaked upwards! Is this a sign of damage, overheating, or just careless assembly?

The machine is only 2 years old with light use, but I’m not inclined to pay Hotpoint £120 again (they replaced the main PCB a year ago). I’ll buy something other than Hotpoint!

Sounds very much like another pcb failure, the Indesit electronics in these very poor.

You could try EMW electronics who will test/repair the board for you.

Thanks very much again for your help on my thread about the Hotpoint Ultima WT741.

Regarding this thread – is what looks like slight `Doming` on the Blue Capacitor in the OP`s Photo above what You previously described as a definite sign that the Capacitor has malfunctioned ?

Perhaps this is just the way it has appeared from the angle of the Photo ?

I am asking because it seems an obvious sign to Me – after You informed Me about this – but You have not mentioned it in this case – ?

The slight Doming on the Capacitor on my machine`s PCB is not as noticeable as the one in the OP`s Photo.

This is a different fault and is not the same capacitor that causes all the lights to flash. that capacitor may well be faulty but machine totally dead can have various pcb faults causing it.

I did not explain myself well enough when I asked about the Capacitor in the Photo above:

I know that this PCB is not the same as the one in my Washing Machine – I know that this OP`s Washing Machines Fault is not the same as the Fault on my Machine.

I just wanted to know whether the Blue Capacitor in the Photo in the first message on this thread looks to be slightly `Domed` to You and would be a good Photographic example of a Faulty Capacitor ?

I’m the OP, and I can confirm that the blue capacitor isn’t domed. It’s an illusion caused by the off centre cross stamped on the end of it.
