Hotpoint WML 540 Door Switch Fault

Washing machine door lock was flashing so changed door switch but fault still on. I have looked at the main control panel and there is a bit of soot deposit around some of the components but the capacitors in that area dont appear raised. Is there a common components problem that i could replace them. I have also been told it might be the motor brushes but i dont inderstand the logic in that. Before buying some can anyone else confirm that is the fix?

Why would you expect logic from an Indesit made machine. :rolls:

Worn brushes or poor motor wiring connections are one of the most common causes of door lock problems.
Don’t just buy some, check the old ones first.
